New to the Roster

[ No Comments ] Posted on 04.29.08 under TNA Wrestling Blog

NEWS: |TNAWN| A few new women were at the recent iMPACT! tapings including Cheerleader Melissa, Daizee Haze and former WWE developmental Shantelle Taylor. Whether these women will be officially added to the roster is unknown since most of the appearances were dark matches.

Good. Do I need to say more? I’m very happy to see TNA actively scouting female wrestlers. They have a great roster full of women and all of which can wrestle. Now all we need are solid storylines where men are not the reason for the match and we can get things going again. Which reminds me, why has Gail Kim and Awesome Kong fallen off? Was the feud dropped? Well I don’t know but the upcoming ladder match is a good way to bring more attention to the women’s division.

Great news.

NEWS: |411M| The following report is from 411Mania with full credit going to Larry Csonka…

-Matt Morgan is backstage, walking with Lauren and jumps Kip James. He calls him old man and makes Lauren watch. I fully approve of starting the show each and every week with a Kip James beating.

-We get highlights of last week’s show.

-Tenay and West welcome us to the show.

~BOOKER GOT SOMETHING TO SAY~
Booker T makes his way to the ring, and Tenay gets up the back-story from last week. Booker has some stuff to discuss and it is directed towards Sting. He calls him out so that he can get this stuff off of his chest.

Sting politely joins us and Booker says he has to do this. They go way back and have been in wars together, and they even watched a company crumble before their eyes. But they were always there for each other. But it got heated last week and he admits that he disrespected Sting. As a man he has to admit he was wrong and apologizes.

And now James Storm, Miss Jackie and Robert Roode come out. Storm says this is all touching, but he and Roode heard them discussing how they were cool in the 80’s. They were there for each other, so they should just get married on TV. STING IS OFFENDED as a Christian. Storm says Sting’s make up is perfect and Booker’s weave never looked better. Roode says last week they wanted to fight, and they all want to see it. Roode says they are going to fight tonight.

But now Jim Cornette is out and he says HE is the one running the show, not any of them. Cornette gets in the ring and says with all due respect, he is tired of everyone being out for themselves. Since there are no TNA tag champions, he has created the Deuces Wild Tournament. 8 teams, 4 matches and the winners go to Sacrifice. At Sacrifice, he will take 8singles wrestlers and make 4 more teams. And it will be a surprise who tags together. If you don’t like the partner, too bad. The winner of the tournament at Sacrifice will be the new tag team champions. As for tonight there will be a fight, it will be Robert Roode and James Storm vs. Booker T and Sting.

-TO THE BACK with JB, who is with AJ. He says the tournament is crap, but he and Tomko will go to Sacrifice and get their titles back. AJ is not worried because he says he and Tomko are the champs and will walk through everyone. AJ is spying at a door and Karen Angle appears! She embarrassed herself at Lockdown, but AJ says she belongs with him. JB asks about Kurt and then promises not to tell him.

Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament Qualifying Match: Black Reign and Rellik vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

Ray and Rellik lock up to the corner they go and shoulder rams by Rellik. Rights now and then boots follow by Rellik. Off the ropes, reversal and a side slam by Ray gets 2. Tag to Devon, double team suplex on Rellik and a cover for 2. Rellik fights back, tags Reign in and he delivers rights to Devon. Off the ropes and a shoulder block by Devon gets 2. All four men in, Rellik tossed, Reign fights back and Ray and Devon almost collide. They argue and Reign tosses Devon into Ray and we head to a commercial @ 2:20.

We are back from commercial @ 6:20 with Devon getting double-teamed. Rellik goes for a cover and gets 2. Chinlock by Rellik, Devon fights to his feet and then catches a kick, but Rellik spins out and connects anyway and then covers for 2. Rellik up top, Ray grabs him, Devon over and then goes up top and gets a suplerplex. Devon covers for 2 as Reign breaks it up. Tag to Ray and he begins to clean house. Off the ropes and a backdrop to Rellik. Then to Reign. Clotheslines both men now, Irish whip and Ray splashes both. Uranage by Ray on Rellik gets 2! Ray argues, and then goes back to work. Slams Reign, Devon up top…Rellik tosses him off and then nails Ray. A big boot by Rellik gets 2 as Devon makes the save. Ray rolls Reign to the floor, 3D on Rellik and that is all.

Winners: Team 3D @ 9:55 via pin

-After the match 3D stands off but they hug.

-Lauren is with the Knockouts in the dressing room. They all have invitations and they are from Cornette. They bicker and insult each other.

-JB is with Kurt Angle. Angle says he is ready for Joe, knowing that this is his last shot. He never loses to the same man twice. He studied the tape and he knows what he has to do. He will then defend against Rick Steiner. JB says Scott, and Angle then says, “whatever.” JB says Karen is here, and he makes JB take him to them.

-Tenay and West discuss the title match later tonight.

-We get a video history of Angle vs. Joe.

-Earlier today they caught up with Joe training. Nash is there, what is he helping with? Nash says the training never stops. Joe is the champ and is not going to let anyone down. Joe says Angle never holds back, and Angle needs to learn that he will be punished and Joe will always better him.

-We get a recap of the TNA Tag Team Title situation.

-Lauren is with Eric Young and Kaz. Eric denies Super Eric and says it is all a rumor. Kaz then says it was hard to forgive him, since he busted his ass to become one half of the TNA Tag Team Champions. Next week they get another shot, and he says not to let him down again. Kaz then says to call Super Eric, get in touch with him and ask him to stay away. Eric agrees.

Deuces Wild Tag Team Tournament Qualifying Match: Christian Cage and Rhino vs. The Motor City Machineguns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

Cage and Alex to begin. They trade counters, arm bar by Alex, takedown and a knee to the arm by Alex. Cage rolls out, gets a side headlock but Alex throws him off the ropes, counters, kick by Alex and then Cage counters sliced bread. Unprettier try countered and an elbow by Alex followed by a cross body for 2. Cage gets the arm, tag to Rhino and a wristlock on Alex. He counters, tags Sabin and he maintains control with the arm. Rhino reverses, counters by Sabin and then a sidekick. Off the ropes and a clothesline by Rhino gets 2. Rhino with a belly-to-belly, sets for a gore…misses and to the floor he goes. Sabin up top but Cage tosses him off. Shelley kicks him to the floor, senton dive to both men by Alex and we head to a commercial @ 3:30.

We are back form commercial @ 6:05 as the Guns are in control and Alex covers Rhino for 2. Off the ropes, reversal and a spinebuster by Rhino gets 2. Tag to Cage, he lays the boots to Alex. Snap mare into a chinlock by Cage. Alex fights out, off the ropes and eats a back elbow for 2. Tag to Rhino, Irish whip and a corner shoulder block by Rhino. Tag back to Cage, off the ropes and a powerslam on Alex gets 2. A neck vice applied by Cage, Alex battles back and then gets a sliced bread on Cage. Both men are down, looking for a tag and Sabin in off the tag with a missile dropkick. Kicks to Rhino, backdrop to Cage and then Rhino misses a charge and falls to the floor. Sabin springs in with a clothesline for a close 2.Sidekick by Sabin, cradle shock try, countered and Alex in and now Rhino is back and takes out Alex while Cage gets an Implant DDT for 2. Sabin manages to double DDT Rhino and Cage and covers for 2. Cage set up top, Sabin follows and they fight, Sabin tossed off…FROG SPLASH misses! Rhino gores Alex, unprettier on Sabin and that is all.

Winners: Christian Cage and Rhino @ 11:23 via pin

-The Knockouts walk.

~WHY THE INVITE?~
Cornette is in the ring to make a PPV match, and he calls out all of the knockouts. No Kong or Saeed. He has a special match at Sacrifice for them. He asks if they like makeovers, and says they will have a makeover battle royal. It will be an over the top rope battle royal. When it gets down to 2 women, a ladder gets involved. There will be a contract. The winner gets a title shot against Kong. The runner up will get a makeover, he knows what they like, he watches TV. They will get a Britney Spears makeover, and the runner up will get her head shaved live on PPV!

-TO THE BACK with Lauren, and she has Sting and Booker T with her. Booker says his thoughts are to win. They beat the Road Warriors together, and tonight will be no different. They are living legends, and tonight it will get real ugly. Sting says then brings up that they could be on different teams. Booker says they are all grown up and they are all about winning now.

Robert Roode and James Storm w/Miss Jackie vs. Booker T and Sting

Storm and Booker to begin, Roode distracts Booker and Storm takes control until Booker lands a flying forearm. Chops by Booker, sidekick and a tag to Sting. Rights and boots by Sting, but Storm rushes him to the corner and tags in Roode. Chops by Roode, rights and then talks trash to Booker. Sting fires back now with chops, rights and kicks. Mounted corner shots by Sting, a hip toss and then a dropkick by Sting follows for 2. A tag back to Booker, back elbow to Roode and to the corner they go again for more chops. Roode fights back, Irish whip and then Storm nails an Enziguri to Booker as Roode distracted the ref. A dropkick by Roode and a cover follows for 2. We head to a commercial @ 2:45.

We are back from commercial @ 7:00 with Booker fighting back, but Storm tags in Roode and they double team Booker. Mr. Perfect neck flip by Roode, a leg drop by Storm and then a knee drop by Roode and he covers for 2.Mounted shots by Storm in the corner, he puts his hat on and then bites Booker. Tag to Roode, and he applies a front face lock. Booker fights back, Roode off of the ropes and a spinebuster by Booker levels Roode. Booker manages a tag to Sting, stinger splashes for Roode and Storm. Booker in now and Jackie trips him up, which allows Roode to gets a DDT. Roode up top, Sting over and goes up to get a superplex, but Storm is over and we get a three man tower of doom! Storm and Booker then clothesline each other and everyone is down. Roode tosses Sting to the floor, Storm has a beer bottle and almost hits Storm. They argue now, Sting hits a deathdrop on Storm while wearing a cowboy hat as Booker takes out Roode and that is all.

Winners: Sting and Booker T @ 11:40 via pin

-After the match Storm and Roode argue as Jackie tries to keep them apart.

-JB and Angle walk and they find AJ and Karen. Angle is pissed and asks why Karen is here. Kurt says while there is a Joe and Angle, there cannot be a Kurt and Karen. No, that didn’t sound gay at all. AJ gets pissed and Kurt tells him to get Karen out of there.

-Lauren is with Cornette. He is sick of people being spoiled. BACK IN HIS DAY they worked hard and they liked it. He has plans, and knows that they all hate him. Just last week someone stole strawberries from him. But next week he has plans for a special match at Sacrifice. He will sacrifice bodies, careers and maybe lives. He will get even and prove that he is the puppet master. Lauren says he sounds evil, but Cornette says he is a good Christian businessman.

If there will be an 8-team tournament for the tag titles at the PPV, that will make for seven matches. The world title match makes eight, the ladies head-shaving match makes nine and this wacky match will make ten. So nothing will get any time then, ok.

TNA WORLD TITLE MATCH: Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe ©

Angle is wearing some spiffy white sneakers. Lock up, to the corner and Joe breaks. Go behind by Angle, reversal and Angle makes the ropes. Angle grabs a side headlock, off the ropes and Joe levels him with a shoulder block. Angle rolls to the floor to take a powder. Back in, shoulder blocked down and back to the floor goes Angle again. Angle back in, Joe gets a headlock. Off the ropes and Joe KILLS Angle with a clothesline. Headlock takedown by Joe, Angle gets to his feet and to the corner. Rights by Angle, Irish whip and Joe sidesteps Angle, who misses and Joe then gets another headlock takedown. Angle back to his feet and to a corner again. Angle rakes the eyes and then delivers a STIFF uppercut that rocks Joe. Angle charges, Joe moves and Angle slams into the steel post. ELBOW SUICIDA BY JOE! We’ll head to a commercial @ 4:30.

We are back from a commercial @ 8:10 with Angle delivering forearms. Joe fights back, knee lariat, senton back splash gets 2. Joe continues the attack with the high knee drop for 2. Face wash now by Joe, and the running boot about kills Angle. Snap suplex by Joe and a cover for 2. Joe now works the cross arm breaker, Angle tries to defend, and then gets the ropes. Rights by Joe, Angle fires back and then gets a release German. Angle works the chinlock, rakes the face of Joe and then back to the chinlock. Elbows by Joe, off the ropes and an overhead belly to belly by Angle! Angle covers and only gets 2. Back to the chinlock goes Angle. Joe fights to his feet, elbows out and then Angle rakes the eyes. Angle charges, but takes the STJOE~! Both men are down and working to their feet. Joe grabs Angle, rights and the ref backs him off. Joe charges Angle, who pulls down the ropes and Joe hits hard and is holding the knee. Angle follows and goes to work on the knee. The ref gets Angle back into the ring and starts the count as we head to a commercial @ 13:50.

We are back from a commercial @ 17:15 and Angle locks in the figure four. During the commercial break Nash and the trainer checked on Joe. Joe works to roll the hold but fails. Joe tries to make the ropes now…struggles… and makes it. Angle didn’t want to break the hold, but finally does. He keeps kicking at the knee, and then applies a knee crank. Joe chops out of that, to his feet, they trade rights, Joe in control and an Irish whip, and a spinebuster by Joe gets a close 2. Angle off the ropes and Joe with the snap slam gets 2. Ankle lock by Angle! Joe rolls, escapes and then the Angle slam connects for 2. Angle goes up top now…MOONSAULT MISSES~! LUCHA ROLL by Joe, and he gets the clutch! No, Angle counters into the ankle lock! Joe counters that into the clutch! He has the body scissors…but Angle is close enough to get the ropes. Joe sets Angle up top, counter and then Joe gets an Enziguri…on the ref. REF BUMP! Angle slam on Joe. STRAPS DOWN! Angle drags the ref over, ankle lock applied. Joe kicks Angle off, and Scott Steiner NAILS Angle with a pipe. He’s a sneaky bastard. Joe hits some kind of half ass tombstone and that is all.

Winner: Samoa Joe @ 23:10 via pin

-Steiner talks shit to Angle, and then faces off with Joe. Joe shoves him down and before Steiner can attack Cornette is out. He saw what happened and nothing is settled. Everything will be settled at Sacrifice, it will be a three way at Sacrifice: Angle vs. Joe vs. Steiner.

-End scene…

NEWS: |411M| The following report is from 411Mania with full credit going to Chris Lansdell…

Once again, I am not Larry Csonka. In fact, I am the Lansdellicious One, Chris Lansdell, sitting in for Larry who had better things to do. Can you blame him? Remember, kids, we’ll be chugging on “Rellik is Killer spelled backwards”, and drinking on “and, yes” and variants, “Un! Be! Lievable!” and “Did you see that Mike?” I am well stocked with the always-delicious Arizona Iced Tea, in red apple, honey and pomegranate flavours, so I should make it to hour 2.

CROSS THE LINE!

- We get a video package, highlighting the events of Sunday night. Some guy won a title.

Wacky TNA Title of the Week: The Revenge of Lockdown. Lansdell’s alternate title:

Pyro! Nobody goes to hospital.

Joe is out, looking snazzy in a suit sans tie, with THE TITLE. Standard face-wins-belt promo, putting over Angle and then putting himself over more, and then putting the fans over. Paint-by-numbers really. He then steals Angle’s catchphrase, which brings out Big Poppa Pump and Little Poppa Pimp, complete with matching chainmail tea cozies. Steiner gets the cheap heat by going after the fans right off the bat. Little Petey Pump, glorious! Steiner gives Petey the X-Division Money in the Bank Feast or Famine title shot. Steiner goes for the obvious angle, pointing out how he’s a genetic freak and Joe is, well, corpulent. He suggests that Joe needs to borrow some bras and girdles from the Knockouts. Joe has a sadistic smile on through it all. Trademarc is on the mic, and here’s the former champion who has arrived from the set of The Matrix 4: Energizer Attacks. He puts over Joe, then says he learns from his mistakes and never makes the same one twice. He turns on Steiner then and says his last title win was against the Road Warriors in 1975 with his idiot brother. Excellent. Oh, what a shock, a contract with a rematch clause. Never seen one of those before. When will challengers learn to read those damn things? Angle is exercising his rematch clause NEXT WEEK, live, right here, on Spike TV *no cheap pop*.

Backstage with Generic Blonde Bimbo #12, who has Rhino and Cage. They talk about possibly forming a tag team, when they are interrupted by Team 3D. Devon says it’s only a matter of time before Cage screws Rhino. Bubba then breaks kayfabe and calls Rhino “Terry”, saying he’s a shell of the guy he was in ECW. Shit escalates as 3D call in Kip James, James Storm, and a third guy I couldn’t see. Beatery ensues.

Commercial. Hey, remember when people wrestled?

JB is with Lethal, who is waiting outside the ladies’ room for So Cal Val. Lethal calls Devine the Repo Man! Fabulous. Sonjay comes out of the ladies’ room with Val, and Lethal gets distracted easily, although the always-keen JB picks up on it straight away.

Match 1: X-Division Title: Black Machismo Jay Lethal vs Johnny Devine
Hermie Sadler is on commentary for this match. My ears are bleeding already. Why is Devine bringing out the tripod and camera again? It made sense against Shelley, but now?

DRINK, Devine jumps Lethal before the bell, and lays in the shots to Lethal. “Why won’t you die?” - Devine. Kick to the head on the apron by Devine. Lethal gets whipped into the guardrail. Sadler has some good insight, he’s just annoying. Abdominal stretch by Devine, flips Lethal up into a slam position, hangs him gut-first over the ropes and leaps off the top with an axe-handle for 2. Modified cutter from a fisherman’s suplex position, followed by a moonsault gets 2 for Devine again. Devine Intervention reversed into an Alabama Slam. Jabs by Lethal, who is now a House! En! Fuego~! Lethal does the Macho Man jump-over-the-ropes neck snap. Springboard missile dropkick, Lethal Combo and the Elbow Drop of Doom finish it.

WINNER: Jay Lethal via Elbow Drop (of Doom)
# Rating: *.5 It was going well, but it was always going to be short, the pace was too high for it to go over 5 minutes. Common thread with TNA: Rush rush rush.

Post-match, Petey cold-cocks Lethal with the briefcase as we cut to commercial.

As we come back, we see some case-related beatery from Williams to Lethal. Williams is on the mic and cuts a great promo before calling for the bell. Ref delays, but does so, then Petey hits the Sick Flip Piledriver The Canadian Destroyer. New champeen.

WINNER, and NEW TNA X-Division Champion, Little Papa Pimp Petey Williams.
# Rating: NR So the Sonjay feud is not going to be for the title, huh? Such a shame, he really deserves a run with the belt. So, Curry Man or Shark Boy next for Petey?

TO THE BACK, LAX and Salinas with aformentioned generic bimbo. Hernandez is channeling Joseph with the Amazing Technicolor Poncho. Weird promo. Homicide can do SO much better than that.

Matt Morgan is incoming. Talking about Cornette being his father figure, and how timing is everything. He then talks about his sacrifices. I wonder what the next PPV is called? Did he just say wrestling anals? The word is ANNALS, but you’re probably right the way you said it. Decent promo otherwise, I cannot believe Vince and Company wasted this guy with a stuttering gimmick.

COMMERICAL. 38 minutes, 1 real match. They crossed the line alright.

Backstage with bimbo and Joe. I’m adding the word “Sacrifice” to the drinking game. 3 to catch up. Joe talks about how much the belt means, while Nash strokes his beard in the background. Joe is not afraid of Angle and looks forward to the match.

Match 2: LAX vs Kaz and non-Super Eric vs AJ Styles and Tomko

DRINK during the intros. EY and Styles to start. Young down and Styles chokes him. Whip, AJ drops his head and eats a boot. Kaz tags in, springboard DDT gets 2. Kaz is whipped into hernandez, kicks him then kicks AJ and Tomko for good measure. Hernandez comes in and KILLS Kaz, and Tomko kills…Eric. Young is running off as Kaz hits a sit-down jawbreaker on Styles. Gee, wonder where he’s going. Commercial.

Back in time to see a spinning heel kick from Kaz to Tomko. Clusterfuckery leads to a Tornadoplex on Kaz, but Homicide breaks the pin. Tomko picks up Homicide, both men fall to the outside. FLYING LATINO by Hernandez to Tomko. In the ring, Kaz has AJ…FLUX CA-FREAKING-PACITOR! Super Eric is here, Kaz with the tag and AJ is CONFUSED! Shots, Eric drops his head, but AJ reads it and goes for the Styles Clash, reversed, SWANK Northern lights suplex with a bridge gets the surprise 3! New champeens!

WINNERS, and NEW TNA Tag Team Champions: Kaz and Super Eric via Northern Lights bridge on AJ Styles by Super Eric.
# Rating: ** Meh. It was an uber-fast cluster with a crazy ending that just furthers the Russo-rific mire of the midcard. There were some nice spots, but spots do not a classic make. The commercial really hurt the match, too.

AJ and Tomko are yelling at Cornette about outside interference, because they are different people, since Super Eric said he had no idea who Eric Young was. Upshot is that if Eric doesn’t admit he is Super Eric, they get stripped of the belts. Oh for crying out loud.

Match 3: Team 3D vs Rhino and Christian Cage

Welcome back to WWE Smackdown!, circa 2002. What? Oh, really? OK. Cage fights off both guys but eventually eats a clothesling from Devon. Cage floats over into the inverted DDT for 2. Tage to Ray, Cage is back in control with chops, but Ray overpowers Cage, misses a punch but shoulder blocks Cage down. Charge into the corner misses, corkscrew elbow by Cage gets 1. Tag to Rhino, who drops his head and eats a foot, then gets a belly to belly on Ray for 2. Whip, another charge misses by Rhino this time, tage to devon but both dudleys eat a clothesline from Rhino. 3D to the floor, Cage off the top with the crossbody to the outside on both guys! Commercial.

Back and 3D are in control. DRINK. Devon with the delayed vertical suplex on Cage for 2. Chinlock by Devon. Shots to the gut by Cage, eye rake by Devon and in comes Bubba. Back body drop, then some shots to Rhino too. Ray perches Cage in the reverse tree of woe, and Devon does the old Petey Oh Canada nut squash. Cage is released from the Tree and Devon gets a 2. DRINK. Ray in, body slam and he goes to the second rope on the inside, Rhino distracts him long enough for Cage to crotch Ray, RANA from the second starnd gets 2. HOT TAGS, Rhino is a House! En! Feu~! Belly to belly gets 2 on Devon, Spinebuster to Ray. Debon knocks RHin o to the outside while he celebrates, Cage in ad goes for the Unprettier but gets a nut shot. Ray sets up, Rhino is setting in the corner, charges for the Gore but gets Cage! Devon in, BIG clothesline to…RAY! RHino ducks, then gets the rollup for 3!

WINNERS: Christian Cage and Rhino
# Rating:**.5 Surprisingly good. It got enough time, told a decent story and even a mini-swerve with Rhino hitting Christian but that not figuring in the result. I just hope Cage and Rhino aren’t going into the tag division for a while…

Post match, Team 3D argue and shove. Oooh, a team splitting up. You don’t say, Russo! Team 3D in singles didn’t work in WWE, and it won’t work here. Zero buys. Maybe we can have BG and Devon vs Ray and Kip? Yeah, that’ll put an ass every 8 feet!

Backstage, Eric is playing with toy soldiers. Fabulous. Cornette asks about Super Eric, and EY denies it again. Cornette wants to resolve it in the ring. As he is leaving he hears a commotion in the Knockouts locker room. Corny lays down the law and shuts them all up. DRINK. He calls the Knockouts spoiled brats and talks about what it was like in his day, and the sacrifices DRINK they made. Wow, what was the point of that?

Commercial.

We’re back and Cornette is in the ring with StyleKo. He apologises for the stupidity going on on this TV program. If only he knew how much ground that apology covered…he calls out Eric Young and calls AJ Styles simple. Kaz is out with both belts. Cornette no-sells it and calls Eric again, telling him to come out before 3 or they’ll lose the belts. Super Eric is out. Damn you, Vince Russo. Just put him on a fucking pole already. Super Eric calls Cornette Commissioner Gordon, and says he doesn’t know Eric Young. “Why is your mask getting red?” - Super Eric. Tremendous. Kaz pleads with Super Eric to tell the truth. He is Suepr Eric, son of Moltar, father of Zion. I swear to bejeebus. Corny strips Kaz and Super Eric of the straps, but does NOT award them back to StyleKo. Titles are now vacant until next week.

Bimbo’s name is apparently “Lauren”. I’ll forget that quickly. Kip James, Robert Roode and James Storm are with her. Kip is now the megstar allegedly. Storm tells Kip he’s pissed off because his cowboy gimmick didn’t get over in the 80s. OH NO HE DIDN’T! Storm cuts an awesome promo on Sting. Roode’s wasn’t bad either.

TNA Knockouts Title: Match 4: Roxxi Laveaux vs Amazing KONG!

I would do things to Roxxi. Kong, not so much. DRINK again during the intros. Tenay is in bad form tonight, West is tolerable. Adamle for Impact! Commercial before the match starts. Huh?

We’re back and underway. Kong shoves Roxxi down HARD. Knees to the chest, choke with the knee in the corner. Whip, Kong charges and squishes Roxxi. Ow. Hair beale. Roxxi shows spunk and fires back with forearms, but Kong just swats her liek bug. BIG forearm smash to the back by Kong. Machete-edge chop. That’s too big for a knife. Kong goes Sheik with CAMEL CLUTCH, make her humbell! Roxxi fights out with a shot to the jaw, shots in the corner, then she runs into Wall of KONG!. Slam, leg drop by Kong gets 2. Kong to the second rope!!! Roxxi moves. HUGE boot by Roxxi gets 2.877. Roxxi ducks the Uraken, spinning neckbreaker, senton splash gets another 2. Roxxi goes for the Voodoo Crusher, Kong is too big, BIG knee lift, a couple of backhand slaps, Uraken! Awesome Bomb! Good night!

WINNER, and STILL Knockouts champion: Awesome Kong! via Awesome Bomb.
# Rating: ***.25 Very good match, Roxxi looked like a threat without making Kong look weak, the match was long enough, and I got to see the Uraken. I love me some spinning backfist action. Bayani, however, just loves some fist action. I’d love to see these two hook up again.

JB is backstage with Angle. He switches from goofy Angle to serious Angle to crazy Angle back to serious Angle. Make up your minds! We’ve had enough goofy Angle, I’d settle for either of the others for a while now.

Commercial.

Match 5: Kip James, Robert Roode and James Storm vs BG James, Booker T and Sting

Yes, TNA. Yes, yes, yes. A main event with some homegrown guys in it! I could have done without the Old Age Outcasts, but you can’t win them all. For a neophyte reviewer, this match should be challenging. DRINK.

Booker and Roode…no, Kip to start. Kip with a knee, some stiff shots, Booker blocks one and lays in some shots. Whip nin, Booker follows into a Kip elbow. Booker fights back, tags Sting who gets a few shots before taking a knee. Roode in, eats a hip toss and clotheslines. 2 count. Tag to BG who instantly yields control, ducks a clothesline and starts his trademark punches. He hits the last one on Kip, the referee gets distracted and this enables Storm to hit a lungblower on BG. 2 count for Roode. As we go to commercial, Roode tags in Kip.

Back in time to see Roode hit a nice drop kick on BG. Shots to BG in the corner, whip and clothesline in the corner by |Roode, then a neck flip. BG fights back, whip, collision. I smell a hot tag…Booker and Storm in! Booker with the leg lariat, Kip cuts him off and gets one too. Spinebuster to Storm. Spinaroonie attempt countered by a vicious kick by Roode. Storm with a kick to Booker, Storm goes for the beer bottle, ref is distracted…MATT MORGAN with the pump kick to Storm! Well that made no sense. Booker with the Axe Kick and the 3.

WINNERS: Booker T, BG James and Sting via Morgan-ference.
# Rating: *.25 Wow, that was…bland. If they’re going to interest people, that match isn’t going to do it. There was just nothing in it.

[ No Comments ] Posted on 04.21.08 under TNA Wrestling Blog

RUMOR: |TNA| TNA announced through their text messaging service that a Knockout will have her head shaved if she loses an upcoming match. Details are scarce at the moment, but this may be a continuation of Cornette coming down hard on the women wrestlers this past Thursday on iMPACT!.

RUMOR: |TNAWN| It looks like Payton Banks is done with TNA for now. It’s being reported that she could not handle TNA and was working on a per-night basis anyway.

Man I’m an idiot. I posted the Payton Banks story on the main WrestlingBlog site instead of this one. And I was wondering why no one was commenting on that post because it can’t be that TNA WrestlingBlog is updated once a week. No, that can’t be the reason because I know what the fans want and they want consistent TV results once a week produced by someone else not affiliated with this website. That’s called hard work, look it up sometime.

Anyway, the report actually says Payton “was in over her head.” Did she have a bad match at the PPV or something? Did she mess up or something? I don’t get it because she seemed to fit in well. I’n not that really upset that she’s (possibly) gone, but I thought she had something to give to the Women’s Division.

And I think the shaving a female’s head is a nice way to get the women to “shape up” sorta speak. And I hope Cornette continues his wrath on the Women’s Division. But it better not continue on with these stipulations because I can easily see TNA having other stipulations like a “Pie in the Face” match or “Dye Your Hair Purple” match or even the popular “Insert Ridiculous Stipulation Here That TNA Comes Up With and Have Don West Go 13-Year Old Crazy About It.” Hopefully the matches that come afterwards will be Grudge Matches, Falls Count Anywhere or, dare I say it, an Ironwoman’s match. The angle of Cornette putting the women through the ringer is great and I hope TNA uses this wisely to make the women look strong, competent and deliver some great matches.

NEWS: |TNA via TNAWN| TNA will present Lockdown this Sunday. Today the promotion sent out a text message saying Karen Angle will be bringing a mystery guest to the PPV, but no word on who will show up.

This BS has got to stop. Every TNA PPV promises their fans a big surprise, or a huge gimmick match, or something never-before-seen in a wrestling ring. And it always ends up being a big disappointment. It’s ridiculous how TNA does every month when a PPV is coming and it’s pissing me off because I know people will believe it and then order the PPV. Let’s not forget how TNA promised the results of the Feast or Fired match at the PPV a few months ago and look how it’s still going on. If TNA really had confidence in their PPVs then they wouldn’t do crap like this every month to raise their numbers. I appreciate that numbers and money count in a new promotion, but so do loyal fans and honesty.

If you wanna buy the PPV then by all means do so, but please don’t buy it because Karen is bringing a mystery guest. It’ll probably turn out to be a vibrator anyway.

NEWS: |411M| The following report is from 411Mania with full credit going to Larry Csonka…

-We get highlights of last week’s show.

-Tenay and West welcome us to the show, and run down what we’ll see tonight.

~TEAM TOMKO SPEAKS~
Tomko, AJ, Ray, Devon, Storm and Jackie all come to the ring. Tomko has a black eye from Angle’s little training session, I am sure he appreciates that. Ray kicks us off and says Tomko doesn’t need to say anything. Lockdown is a few days away and Cage, that skinny, insignificant man did not get one over on Team Tomko. He just pissed them off. The plot that he and Morgan put together will backfire in their faces. He tells Morgan not to show up to Lockdown, because if he does, it will be the last time he laces up his boots. Now tonight, Nash and Sting. You two have been bleeding the industry your whole careers, and you are why WCW went out of business. But tonight for the first time, they get to do something, they get to step into the ring with the greatest tag team of all time. He grabs a belt to celebrate and…

Team Cage (Cage, Sting, Rhino, Morgan and Nash) makes their way out to the ramp. Cage says that that 3D is talking a lot of shit. He says to stop complaining, and says Ray is like Hilary Clinton in a fat suit. Ray wants to fight now. Cage apologizes, and says Clinton has bigger balls than Ray. Last week they made Team Tomko look like jackasses. After Storm laid out Sting he knew what was going on. He knew Tomko would bitch and complain and try to get the advantage. This is why he told Tomko not to think. Cage is the Instant Classic, the Champ, and the Champ is always one step ahead of them all. At Lethal Lockdown, Team Cage leaves Team Tomko for dead. If you don’t know, now you know.

AJ gets pissed and says, “Don’t bring it, sing it.” Ok. Team Cage hits the ring, and they bail on AJ. They chase him off.

-They shoot backstage to Joe in a suit and he says he will sign the contract in blood if he has to. If he doesn’t win the title, he’ll walk away from wrestling forever.

-JB is with Kurt Angle. He tells him that Joe is here and will sign the contact. Angle laughs and says saying is one thing, but doing is another. He has beat Joe 3-times already. He doesn’t believe he will sign. Angle is confident, it is already won. Angle then asks what JB is worried about. JB says Joe looks like a different guy due to the videos. Angle is the best he says, and 4-5 weeks cannot handle what Angle has learned in 30-years. In 3-days, there will be a 100% chance that Joe taps, for the last time.

-We get a Consequences Creed video package.

X-Scape Qualifying Match: Consequences Creed vs. Jimmy Rave w/Hemme and Hoyt

A boot by Rave to begin. Rights, a snap mare and then the chin lock. A hammerlock counter by Creed, goes for a monkey flip, countered and then Creed slams Rave and gets a high leg drop and covers for 2. Rights by Creed, off the ropes but Rave gets an STO and covers for 2. Stomp by Rave, Creed fights back and off the ropes but takes a knee to the gut, followed by a shining wizard by Rave for 2. TO the corner they go, Irish whip and reversal but Creed is slammed to the corner. Creed then slams Rave to the corner, rights and lefts and a corner clothesline connect. Rolling thunder clothesline connects for Creed. Hemme distracts the ref, Creed off the ropes and Hoyt trips him up, and then Rave rolls him up for 2. Creed levels Hoyt, jabs to Rave and then a split into a big right hand. Creed then gets a hammerlock DDT for the win.

Winner: Consequences Creed @ 3:00 via pin

-The X-Scape match will be Machismo © vs. Dutt vs. Sharky vs. Devine vs. Curry Man vs. Consequences Creed

-Crystal is with Machismo and Val. They discuss the X-Scape match, and Machismo say she will climb out for the win. He isn’t afraid because he has his lady and his best friend. Dutt arrives and checks out Val, blows off Machismo and says he and Val should go shopping. They leave Machismo behind like a goof again.

-Jim Cornette has joined the commentary team. They have added some wacky match involving handcuffs and 6-teams to the PPV. Rellik, Black Reign, Super Eric, Kaz, Scott Steiner, Petey Williams, Sabin, Shelley, Homicide, Hernandez, Rave and Hoyt. There will be 11-sets of handcuffs, and only one man can win. Cornette discusses that he is upset with Morgan, and says effective today Morgan is only a wrestler and not a part of administration.

-Crystal is with Matt Morgan. He will go his way and finally do his thing. He can take 100% of the roster, so when Cage gave him the chance, he took it and everyone will know why they call him the most genetically jacked, athletically stacked giant today.

-We get a wacky video package for the initiation Steiner has put Petey through.

The Motor City Machineguns (Sabin and Shelley) vs. Scott Steiner and Petey Williams

Sabin and Petey to begin. Knuckle lock by Petey, Sabin escapes and then gets a roll up for 2. Arm drag by Sabin, tag to Alex and they double-team suplex Petey and then deliver leg drops. Steiner nails Alex, but Sabin runs off of Alex and drops Steiner with a dropkick. Alex with a tornado DDT to Petey. BIG frog splash by Alex gets 2 as Steiner makes the save. Missile dropkick by Sabin, a sidekick and then Alex saves Sabin, and they get a cool suplex/facebuster deal for a close 2. Steiner is dropped again, but Sabin misses a dive, Steiner trips Alex…CANADIAN DESROYER by Petey and that is all!

Winners: Scott Steiner and Petey Williams @ 7:45 via pin

-Steiner on the mic and says many would have quit on him, but Petey is a crazy son of a bitch and that is what you need to be a wrestler. Tonight is the final initiation. Steiner gets scissors out of the bag, and he is going to cut Petey’s hair. Hell yes, bleach it too. “I will call him…MINI-PUMP!” Steiner cuts off the ponytail and then gets clippers. He is shaving him bald, damn. Steiner then gives Petey on of his headdresses. They pose.

-Tenay and West discuss the initiation we just saw. They then hype Lockdown.

-We get a video history of Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle. Cage picks Joe to win. Frank Trigg picks Angle. Cornette picks Joe. Nash picks Joe. Mike Carlson from the Fight magazine puts over the fight. Joe says it is do or die, and his career is on the line.

~ANGLE vs. JOE CONTRACT SIGNING~
Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring. He says that this Sunday will be the most important match of his career and Joe’s career. First of all it is for the TNA Title, the most coveted title in wrestling today. The other reason is what is on this contract right here. It states that if Joe doesn’t beat him, he has to quit wrestling forever. Angle calls out Joe to sign the contract. MAKE IT REAL…MAKE IT DAMN REAL.

Joe is out now, in a suit again, and Angle says he apologizes for interrupting his training, but he doesn’t trust Joe. To make it official, he put together a document for him to sign. Shouldn’t Joe, you know, read this first? He asks if Joe will put it all on the line. Joe says that he came out here to reassure he and the world that he means what he says. He has promised to leave if he loses, and the other is he will defeat Angle this Sunday. There will be no excuses, just Joe standing over Angle the world champion. Joe signs the contract. They stare down and shake on it.

-We get a replay of Joe signing the contract.

-Crystal is with Kim and ODB. They talk up their tag match at Lockdown, and Kim says they are their own worst enemies. They both want the title and the time will come for them to battle. But at Lockdown, they will take out Kong and Saeed. ODB says Saeed must be ugly if she hides under a veil. She will rip it off her head at the PPV.

Angelina Love w/Velvet Sky vs. Roxxi

They circle, Sky distracts Roxxi and Love attacks. To the corner, boots by Love and then chops by Love. Winner: Roxxi @ 2:50 via pin

-TO THE BACK with Super Eric. JB calls him Eric Young, but SUPER ERIC proclaims not to know him. He is here to rid TNA of all villains. Including Black Reign, next. Remember, fear is temporary, heroes are forever.

-Back for more Rough Cuts. BG says he can see them being on speaking terms again, but Kip has to be willing. Once they get the physical stuff out of the way, then they can talk. Kip say sit is all over, and at Lockdown, he finishes BG’s career. BG says he is a wreck, and he knows about family fighting. Kip says he cannot wait for the match. BG knows all about Kip, but doesn’t know how to go about the match. He fears for his well being, but he prays to God that Kip fears for his as well. After this, Kip says he will become world champion.

Black Reign w/RAT vs. Super Eric

Reign attacks before the bell and they brawl on the floor. Super Eric tossed into the steps, and then into the ring. Reign lays the boots to him, uppercut now by Reign and then a clothesline gets 2. He marks for himself. Tonight, he will make it clear and Ray will never question him again. Nash says they differ, his intentions are not honorable, and Nash is there for the money. Overpaid? Sure, but better than underpaid. When they win, he stays in the main event and he gets paid. After this, he will go where the money is all. I appreciate your honesty Kevin.

NEWS: |TNAWN 1 2 3 4| TNA recently broadcasted iMPACT! live this week. Here are some news stories coming out from that show…
Since WrestleMania 24 is in Orlando this year, Vince has been all WWE talent from fraternizing with TNA talent. With that said, current WWE star Robbie McAllister of The Highlanders was shown on TV sitting in the stands during iMPACT! Also, ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero and Shannon Moore were both backstage.

The iMPACT! live broadcast had a few hiccups, but nothing too major from a production standpoint. This live airing was a test run and iMPACT! will still be taped.

-We now get a Consequences Creed Video with no sound.

-Earlier today Tenay had a sit down interview with Karen Angle. Tenay was skeptical, but now that she moved out with the kids, it is real. I was hard to do and she couldn’t live with what she did to the other people. She needs to set an example for her kids. She says Kurt is possessed with Joe. The kids come running to them when they went home and he shows no feeling for them. He doesn’t embrace the kids. She is an adult, she understands that she has to take a backseat, but the kids shouldn’t have to. Tenay asks about her seeing someone on the roster. She says that she has met someone that treats her right. The way Kurt used to treat her. She will not confirm anything else.

This time it will be different, it will be just them, one on one. Joe says he has always owned Kurt one on one.

-Joe is here via satellite from Big Bear! His training has been extreme, and every day he has been there, he gets closer to taking Angle out. There will be a war. Tenay says Angle has won 3 of 4 meetings, and Joe says he could make excuses, but he won’t. He will win the title and bring back respect to the title. He will earn the belt by the sweat of his brow. Joe has had regrets since saying that he would leave if he lost, but if he cannot be the best then it is not worth being in TNA. He is coming for the title, he will take it by any means it takes and he will become the new TNA champion!

-Frank Trigg joins Tenay and West. He is excited to be there. It would have been cooler if it were Mir.

Cage says they offer their services for a real training session. They walk to the ring and Angle bails! Christian Cage, Kevin Nash and Rhino brawl with AJ and Tomko, but here comes 3D! Devon about tripped over a wire and they begin to beat down team Cage. Ray calls for AJ and Tomko to get tables and they do! They set up the table, lay Cage out and…

LIGHTS OUT!

STING IS HERE! He clears the ring and has the mic. Sting says it is good to be back in Orlando. He has a message from Team Cage, he challenges Team Tomko to a match tonight and Tomko accepts!

-JB is with Robert Roode and the match that he and Booker T will have is…First Blood match. Roode says he knows Booker’s plan. It will not work, because at Lockdown, he will get his skanky wife in the six sides of steel. Booker’s worst nightmare will become a reality, and there is nothing Booker can do about it. They are on the same page tonight because Roode wants Booker’s blood as well, and come Lockdown, he wants Sharmell’s.

-James Farrior from the Pittsburgh Steelers is in attendance!

-Crystal is with Riesha Saeed and Awesome Kong. SILENCE! Riesha reads a statement from Kong. Tonight is a special night, it does not matter who the fans vote for or choose. It means nothing. What does matter is who ever wins, it will be a vote for defeat and destruction. Kong will continue her path of destruction. Kong will show tonight why she is the champion, and it will be her pleasure to watch Kong work. Peace be upon you. Dirka, Drika, Dirka, Muhammad Jihad!
